Q& A Time.
Are you feeling overwhelmed by all the “shoulds” in your life?
Do you feel deafened and controlled by nagging or self-critical inner dialog?
Do you feel resistant to the idea of self-compassion?
Do you wish you had more time for enjoyable moments, activities and people you choose?
Want to work on letting go of some limiting “shoulds"?
Worried if you let go of busyness, over-achieving or doing more that you won't be effective, will slip up, underachieve or will miss out?
What would it be like to feel the glimmers in your day? To consider savoring without clinging to the moment?
Striving
(1) devoting serious effort or energy
(2) struggling in opposition; contending
Striving can be great when it's something you want or need…
But what about striving for unnecessary, counterproductive or even harmful things?
Savoring
(1) having the experience of
(2) tasting or smelling with pleasure; relishing
(3) delighting in; enjoying
Savoring something you enjoy is one way to feel connected to now and grounded in your body. When you resist it, or find ways to prevent it altogether, either by being too busy to stop or too fixated on what wasn't right or should be to have a mindful moment, you untether a bit from your experience.
Healthy Challenge
(1) subjective for each person, each moment
(2) allowed to change
Want to explore where your line is between a healthy challenge and harmful struggle, force or striving?
Ready to build some tools to tap into savoring more often?
Let's explore ways to nudge toward healthy challenges and savoring, so you can encourage embodiment, aligned living and present moment awareness for when beautiful moments come around.

Who is Emily?
Through my own personal journey with disordered eating, body dysmorphia, low self-concept and complex trauma, I have developed practices that have been effective in helping me move past regular dissociation, self-loathing and self-negligence. Part of this journey has been learning about my body, my nervous system, and how many of the things that I thought made me defective or alien were actually due to my body protecting me. I also learned that a lot of other people experience similar things. I created Yoga Where U R Planted to share insights and tools with others dealing with the manifestations of complex trauma, low body image, eating disorders, dissociation, high or prolonged stress and general nervous system dysregulation. My hope is that the YWURP community continues to receive a beautiful mixture of Yogic and Ayurvedic ancient wisdom coupled with the newest research in mindfulness-based and somatic psychology and neuroscience, offering evidence-based and safe tools.

It can't be emphasized enough that for those who have recently experienced a traumatic event, have been acutely triggered, are prone to flashbacks or frequent extreme disassociation, or someone with an active eating disorder or body dysmorphia, yogic practice is best done under the guidance and cradle of a mental or physical healthcare practitioner or treatment facility, or at least with their approval and with someone specifically trained to offer such sequences, like Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga Facilitators or Certified Yoga Therapists with a co-speciality in Trauma-Informed Clinical Psychology or related field. As disassociation can be a defense mechanism, please do not engage in the practices suggested here if you feel you need this defense to function right now, and reserve this for work with a therapist or other professional qualified to hold this experience with you
