What is Wellbeing Coaching anyway?
Wellbeing coaching at YWURP offers a comprehensive yet intentional approach to specific intentions you have for your whole-person wellbeing. Drawing upon the format and perspectives from the 3 Wisdom Traditions (3WT) Certified Wellness Coaching methodology and combining them with an IFS-informed approach that employs movement-based, contemplative and artistic self-inquiry as well as learnings from other trainings and experiences, We co-create and facilitate your cultivation of intentional routines and practices that promote your overall wellbeing.
The 3WT Model combines philosophies and methods from Yoga, Ayurveda and Psychology to provide wrap around care that focuses on building resilience, adaptability and self-regulation, with an additional focus on the importance of intentional community and positive social experiences.
Wellbeing coaching clients meet Emily for one-hour sessions and will often receive additional resources, recorded audio or video of practices and between session access to Emily by text or email for questions, feedback and insights over the course of our six sessions at least once every two weeks, often weekly.
How Can I start?
Wellbeing Coaching at YWURP begins with a Free Initial Consultation. Afterwards, Emily will review all that comes out of this first meeting and create a plan with you based upon your intentions, meeting with you once more to align on the plan. Coaching sessions are offered in increments of six, one-hour sessions, with the purpose of moving toward the intention(s) you set. 1-1 Wellbeing Coaching clients also receive discounted rates on group classes, workshops and journeys.
For Group Wellness Coaching, please schedule an Initial Consult to discuss bespoke packages tailored to your group's specific situation and intentions.
Wellbeing Plans & Sessions
Interested in wellbeing partner meetings?
It all starts with an Initial Consult. During a free, 60-minute initial consultation, we'll get to know each other, see if our interaction would be fruitful for your wellbeing, and I will begin to assess what your needs may be through some targeted questions and discussion. This will allow me to begin creating the initial draft of a wellbeing plan, which you will then review and we'll make any pivots if necessary.
To schedule subsequent sessions, please use the link provided by Emily in your onboarding email.
Yoga Therapy….Wellbeing Coaching….What's the Difference??
While wellbeing coaching and yoga therapy have many similarities, there are a few key differences. Wellbeing Coaching follows a more pre-determined format and has rather specific intentions designated for each increment of six sessions, often at weekly or bi-weekly increments. At the end of these six sessions, we then readdress your initial intentions, determining if you'd like to keep, pivot or completely change the theme of your next sessions or discontinue sessions. Intentions are often more targeted (though they can be more all-encompassing, like general wellbeing), yet the methods are more liberal and less focused on being therapeutic (though wellbeing coaching can certainly have therapeutic effects). For example, this means that remaining for a longer time in embodied yin or restorative shapes or arm balances could figure into our practice together if this is what you would like. This could also include sessions that have a greater portion of discussion. Wellbeing coaching can involve guided movement-based, artistic and conversational inquiry informed by Internal Family Systems methodology to facilitate your process of inner-knowing and self-understanding. This can assist you in elucidating your intentions for wellbeing coaching and in understanding and adapting what practices, information and more may be beneficial for you.
Conversely, while people often come into yoga therapy with certain intentions, the work generally does branch out into a more comprehensive scope. Sessions are often less structured and goal-oriented, evolving more organically based on what you are coming into session with. YT also doesn't have a set number of sessions, with increments between sessions varying widely depending upon the client's unique situation. Practices and resources remain therapeutic at all times and very carefully take into consideration any possible contraindications on a bio-psycho-social-spiritual level, as some seeking yoga therapy may be recovering or in the midst of wellness challenges. This means, for instance, that long, static postural holds that involve stretching or strength (for instance 2 minutes) and long restorative or rest practices (for instance more than 15 minutes) do not figure into yoga therapy practice. That said, yoga therapy can also be experienced as a more general self-care measure to maintain and modulate wellness on all koshic levels (ie all levels of your existence from a yoga philosophy perspective). Yoga philosophy and bio/psychoeducational discussions may figure into our work in yoga therapy, as can working in partnership with you and/or other providers you partner with to navigate the complex networks of any mental or physical health challenges you may be facing.
It is not recommended that anyone having recently undergone or currently living with a traumatic situation of any kind (including physical, emotional, interpersonal, etc.) pursue wellbeing coaching. This acute state is more supported via yoga therapy sessions, if and when you and your mental and/or physical healthcare partner(s) agree that it may be safe enough and beneficial for you.
